How to register as a Business

Registering on the Tethys engineering plateform is straight forward and only requires a few minutes to complete. From the Business subscription plan under the Register menu, new participants should click the "Register" button to initiate the process. 

Alternatively, if you have received an email invitation from an existing member, a link will directly take you to the appropriate place.

There are a few easy steps to follow to ensure that you have properly created your account including reaching the "Check out" screen at the end. Although there is no cost to join at this point in time, completing the check out process is required to create a user account.

Define your Company

Once you have clicked the Register button, you will be requested to provide the basic information to create a record of for your company in our database. The "Business Name" field will be displayed as the name of your company in the Tethys Community. The information for the key contact (i.e., name, email address, etc) will be use in the backend system to create the primary owner of the account and the first user of the project and collaboration space that will be created. This user will also receive the notification sent by Tethys Engineering, which will include the payment transaction information with the various students. It is recommended to use a contact and related email address that could play this administrative role over time.

Take the time to fill in the "About me" section of your profile to provide information about the business. Although much of this information is mandatory to register, you have the option to select who will be able to see it. The icons on the right of every one of those screens will give you the ability to select the right option.

Once your business and the key contact person are registered an account is created in the back-end and allow transactions to take place.

In addition, a business can have as many "Professional" users join and participate to build relationships with students. They need to follow the register process behind the Professional subscription plan.

Building Business Profile

Once signed in,  you will be able to take advantage of the many social collaboration features offered by the platform. To navigate to your profile, select the "Profile" menu pick on the second menu bar. It will bring you to your main profile page which is the way others see you. This is your own space where, very much like Facebook or LinkedIn, you can make your self stand out and communicate with others about what you are doing. The "About me" section is important but as you will see there are many other ways to create an identity for yourself.

Grow your presence - Build relationships

On your profile page or on the community home page, you will be able to select "Groups" on the menu bar and create your own group. This will give you the opportunity to create a semi-private or private space for your to communicate with members of your business and with students. You will also be able to define how other users can participate.

There is no limit to the number of groups you can create. The functionality is there to create an intimate relationship with a group of students on a specific topic.
